What’s happening? Hospital administrators are increasing their numbers at a terrifying rate! Doctors and nurses are leaving patient care to become hospital administrators! They are turning into bizarre drones. You no longer recognize them as colleagues. They have dead eyes. They string together bizarre words. They don’t even seem like real people. What’s happening?!?

So many of us want to escape the trenches and seek to control how medical is administered, go to catered meetings all day, and be guaranteed a steady good paycheck with benefits. It will progress until we will have an army consisting of officers without troops.

Interesting metaphor. Did you know that theUSA has eight uniformed service branches with all the trappings? I knew a Vice-Admiral who’d never been on a boat. One or two branches has no enlisted personnel, just officers, Another is the Space Force-what do they do?

Yep, that’s why I always refer to the lead costume wearer as “Surgeon Admiral.” Under any administration they are loathsome bureaucrats with a penchant for playing dress-up (in my former life I was a line naval officer and have briefed ACTUAL admirals, who knew the difference).
